5 Websites to Learn DevOps for Free in 2026
Core Takeaways
  • ✓Cloud and DevOps skills are in unprecedented demand as AI infrastructure investments accelerate globally.
  • ✓Comprehensive, high-quality roadmaps and interactive labs exist completely for free without buying expensive bootcamps.
  • ✓Learning is most effective when matched to your personal mode: zero-start guided curriculum, visual diagrams, test-driven labs, or unguided challenges.
  • ✓Pick just one resource to begin with, build muscle memory, and progress incrementally.

With AI companies spending billions on cloud infrastructure, DevOps and cloud engineering are becoming increasingly important skills to learn.

But you don't need to spend thousands of rupees on a course to get started.

I went through a bunch of free DevOps resources and found these 5 websites that are actually worth checking out.

This is probably where I'd start if you're completely new to cloud. Learn to Cloud takes you from Linux and networking and gradually moves into cloud engineering. The curriculum is structured, so you don't have to spend hours figuring out what to learn next. You can also submit your work and get automated feedback, which I found pretty interesting.

My pick for:Starting from zero.

Kushal has put together some really good visual guides here. You'll find tutorials around Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, cloud and DevOps, with explanations that are easier to follow than a lot of technical documentation. If you get bored reading long walls of text, give this one a try.

My pick for:Visual learners.

This one stood out to me because it is much more hands-on. Stéphane Robert has built 350+ free labs covering Linux, Ansible, Terraform, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions and more. You don't just read about a command and move on — you actually have to do the work, and your results are tested. This is the kind of resource I'd bookmark and come back to regularly.

My pick for:Learning by doing.

DevOps Daily has a huge collection of articles, tutorials, quizzes and interactive tools. I particularly like the interactive side of the website. You can play around with things like Kubernetes, DNS, networking and CI/CD instead of just reading about them. There is a lot to explore here, so I'd recommend picking one topic rather than trying to go through everything.

My pick for:Practising what you learn.

This one isn't going to hold your hand. You get a challenge and have to figure out how to solve it yourself. I actually like this approach because DevOps is not about memorising commands — sooner or later, something will break and you'll have to figure out why. Start with the basics and work your way through the challenges.

My pick for:People who like figuring things out themselves.

Which one should you start with?

  • If you're starting from scratch, I'd go with Learn to Cloud.
  • Once you have the basics, use Stéphane Robert's labs and DevOps Daily to get more hands-on.
  • And if you want to test yourself, try DevOps Upskill Challenge.

You don't need to use all five. Pick one and start building.

"I'll keep finding more websites like these and adding them to LearnLists."
